Ethos Ultra

Ethos, rebuilt coaxial.

A 5N single-crystal copper conductor, a silver-plated shield wrapped around it and a Kevlar core at the centre. Three plugs in the box, one cable for every source.

Ethos is the Greek ēthos: character. In Aristotle’s rhetoric it is the trust a speaker earns before saying a word. On stage, a cable earns it the same way, by never being the thing you think about.

Construction

Coaxial Signal Path

Each channel runs as its own coaxial line. The 5N single-crystal copper conductor carries the signal; the silver-plated copper spiral shield wound around it carries the return and shields the conductor at the same time.

At the very centre, a Kevlar fibre core takes the pulling strain, so the copper isn’t stretched when the cable is tugged, coiled or wound for the road.

Signal and return stay at a fixed, concentric spacing along the whole cable, and each channel keeps its own return, so 4.4 mm balanced is native.

Sound Guide

Single-crystal copper adds weight and body to the mids and bass. The silver-plated shield keeps the treble open. Coaxial shielding lowers the noise floor for cleaner imaging and detail.

Introducing FlexiPlug

Introducing FlexiPlug

The FlexiPlug is a multi-connection system, enabling users to switch to adequate connectors for their IEMs.

Currently supporting 2PIN, IE300, A2DC, IPX, Pentaconn Ears and QDC 2PIN.

Build Note

Build Note

Designed, handcrafted and shipped from Singapore.

Built-to-order. Lead time around 1 week.

Ear guide (~10cm) is installed by default for commonly used IEM connectors (e.g. 2PIN, MMCX, IPX). Let us know if your IEM/headphone is modified or needs extra customization.

Oxidation and Anti-Yellowing

Stays Bright, Stays Clear

Bare copper and silver plating darken as they oxidise, and many clear cable jackets turn yellow with age. Ethos Ultra is built to avoid both.

Every strand is individually enamelled and sealed under an ultra-flexible PVC coating, so air and moisture never reach the metal and the conductor keeps its original colour. The silver-plated spiral shield around each signal line, 19 bundles of 7 fine wires wound in one direction, adds abrasion resistance, strength and flexibility.

The clear outer jacket is yellowing-resistant, so the silver shield underneath stays on show instead of fading behind a tinted sleeve.

Caring for Your Cable

Care

Caring for Your Cable

Coil it loosely in large loops and keep it in the included leather pouch when you’re on the move.

Unplug by holding the connector, not the cable, and avoid sharp bends right at the plugs.

To swap the player plug, unscrew the locking collar fully, then pull the plug straight out.

Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, and keep it away from solvents and alcohol-based cleaners.

Every cable has a 1-year warranty. If anything goes wrong, contact us and we’ll take care of it.

    Elegant construction & presentation

This is worth way more than they charge. Quality of materials and build alone should make them 2x the price.

I replaced the cable on my Shure in-ear monitors with this cable. I am very happy with the cable.

AWESOME!!! Ethos Series MKVI Premium Upgrade Cable | IEM Sennheiser IE600

Great!!! The service was amazing and the package came on time. I ordered per FedEx Express Germany and all went smooth and fast. The quality + unboxing made me feel i have purchased something fancy and they are great for touring with my bands. No problem since (2 months). Keep in mind though the shipping costs are high and depending on what country, you'll have to pay custom service fees.

    Fantastic experience with Null Audio.

The cable of my Sennheiser IE 300 failed far too quickly, so I decided to purchase the Ethos Series MKVI Premium from Null Audio. The entire process — from ordering to delivery — was exceptionally pleasant and clear. I had high expectations for this cable, but I can now say that those expectations have even been exceeded. The cable looks exceptionally high-quality, but it’s the sound that surprised me the most. I was already very satisfied listening through the Dragonfly Red, but with this cable everything sounds even more open and detailed. In short: a top-tier product and excellent service from Null Audio.

    Great cable

I have the Sennheiser IE300 and the standard cable broke. I replaced it with the null audio version and I should have replaced it sooner. The Sennheiser cable feels flimsy and low quality compared to the null audio version. If the null audio version has good durability, then I will be returning again for any of my audio needs.

    Great cable, sturdy quality

I've ordered a few times from here and I always come back. I've never paid for anything crazy high-end so I don't have a point of comparison there but the sound quality is noticeably better than some $60 cables I've ordered.

Love it at the sight and loving its performance

Superb in, Stunning out cables. This is my first NA Cable, outstanding effects on my AK Zero1: wider sound stage, more details, tight bass and sparkly treble, forward mid a bit. The weekness on my Zero1 is the quite tight soundstage but Ethos MKVI solved the problem wisely.
The metal part (Black/Silver) is match perfectly with my AK SR25mkii n' Zero1!
The leather case is well made as well.
The service center (dont know exactly who) is very kind and helpful, served my requesting in deep.

Can't not wait to try more iem cable from Null Audio soon!

Visually stunning and sounded fantastic with the additions of a miniature DAC built within the USB C connector. I absolute enjoyed listening to the clear reproduction and it works on both my phone and the PC. Awesome product!

Great Cable for IE 600

Great sounding and looking cable for the Sennheiser IE 600. Had some issues with my original order, but great customer service handled it perfectly. Very happy with the cable. More secure than the original stock cable, with less microphonics and memory. Very happy with my purchase at Null.

THE best IE 600 cable

Huge fan of this cable, wanted an upgrade from the 'meh' stock cable of the Sennheiser IE 600 and I am super pleased with this one. Very low memory, super soft, no microphonics and it looks amazing. Highly recommend!!

Best Neutral Cable so far

I have been Null Audio user since early 2000s. Then recently I noticed Null still makes cables. Out of whim I tried this cable for my IEM, and I was blown away by transparency this cable could deliver.
I have over 100 cables including PW Audio Copper M2 , Ignis, Legend II, Copper 28V2, Many NiceHCK (including flagship Dragonscale), XINHS, and many other cables.
Eyhos MKV is truly highly recommendable cable among them all when considered price to performance.

Nice cable, but no customer service for fitment issue.

I’ve contacted Null through email twice. Never heard anything back. I received the cable and loved everything about it.. until I noticed the ear hooks were slightly different sizes. So now the cable falls off one of my ears, and it’s secure on the other one. Very frustrating and it makes me not want to even use the cable. I would have done 1 star, but I decided to do 2 because of the quality materials and the nice MMCX fitment on my IE600. I really want to like it, but the ear hooks just don’t work unfortunately.

Perfect replacement of original cables for Senn IE600

Sounds great! But I wish next time engineers take more care of Right and Left input. Right and left channel were switched in my cables. It is not uncomfortable since I can just change the left one to right earbud, but I could be better if I got rightly tuned one.

Better than I’d imagined

I’ve never been one to think audio cables affected sound. I use UE Capitol Recordings in ear monitors and I’d always thought they had some low midrange problems. I used their upgraded cable and it still felt muddy.

I got them because I’m a mix engineer and I use them to mix live shows and records.

I didn’t realize it was the cable. The new one I purchased here made them TOTALLY flat, the way they’re supposed to be. I hadn’t actually heard them properly.

The new cable DOES require more voltage, so it will drain a phone a bit faster, but the quality of sound, style and build quality far exceeds the reasonable price.

I tell everyone I know to buy these now. In my professional opinion.

Electrical Leakage

Bought this last year to replace the worn cables on my IEMs. They do their job well enough and as good as the original cables on my earpieces. But they do have one major caveat - electrical leakage when my Macbook Pro is plugged in to charge. I've waited this long to post a review because I didn't believe that cables at this price point would have an issue like this, and I've tested this with 2 other chargers, one of which I purchased brand new. I used to think it was my imagination, but the sharp, nagging sting at the top of my ears where the metal casing rests gets unbearable, and a test pen has confirmed my suspicions as well. It has come to the point where I have stopped using that set of IEMs when I need to charge my computer. If your work requires you to have your laptop or other electronic devices constantly plugged in while you are monitoring, I would definitely avoid.

This cable is amazing

It's the cheapest cable inbthe NA line up, yet I found I like it the most among all other models! My first impression is that this is a beautifully built cable, when I link it up with VE8, I was immediately shocked by the huge soundstage, and the bass is very prominent. Yet, the vocals is still very clear and transparent ! I got some more expensive cables from NA before, but I really think this is the best cables for my IEMs.

Ethos Plus - I like it!

Purchased to go with my Massdrop Plus IEM. Specifically looking for a cable to wear under my Motorcycle helmet. I own and love the Arete cable but that was too thick to wear over the ears under the helmet. The Ethos works great. Both cables are well built, do not tangle easily (Important to me!), and sound fine. I'm no expert at detecting sound signature changes based on cables so I won't make any claims on that. However the cables work great and I'm happy with my purchase.

Ethos 5N CGOCC

I'm pairing this cable with the Audio Technica CKS1100. Overall I would say that the sound has definitely improved.

Bass doesn't sound that bloated anymore, and more punchy in fact. Though those who enjoys sub bass might want to take note that the cable does reduce that frequency spectrum.

Resolution is much better with an obvious increase in clarity especially when it comes to vocals. Hearing these improvements made it apparent to me that the default cable on the CKS1100 really is holding back the potential of the earphone.

With all these increase in sound quality some of you might wonder: Why is this cable only getting 4 stars?

Since I had requested the cable without earguides at the connectors, Null Audio had kindly replaced the connectors with metallic ones. And that is when I experienced something that has never happened to me throughout years of earphones using. After replacing my earphone cable with the Ethos, whenever I use it with a charging device (Laptops, Phones etc.), I will constantly get small electric shocks at my ears. This issue doesn't occur as long as the device isn't charging.

It made me realise why nearly all earphone cable connectors have a rubber or plastic exterior.

The cable is beautiful, improves on sound quality and seems to be well built. So I hope Null Audio will take note about the metal connector issue to improve on the good job they are already doing.

Noticeable Improvement on other cables

I've used 5+ different cables with my ER4s and this is the first cable where I felt like I could hear a clear improvement in the sound quality and clarity. Difficult to quantify, but definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

Questions

Good to know

How long until it ships?

The 0.78 mm 2-pin version is in stock and ships in 1–2 working days. Other connectors are built to order by hand in Singapore, with a lead time of around 1 week.

Will it fit my earphones?

Choose your earphone connector in the configurator above. FlexiPlug lets you switch between 2PIN, IE300, A2DC, IPX, Pentaconn Ears and QDC 2PIN. If your earphones are modified or need a custom fit, contact us before ordering.

Find the right connector for your earphones

Can I change the player plug later?

Yes. The player end is detachable with a threaded, screw-locking connector, and the 3.5 mm, 4.4 mm balanced and USB-C plugs are all included.

Guide to player plugs

What does the USB-C plug do?

It is a complete 32-bit / 384 kHz DAC with parametric EQ. Tune it with the Android app, or at peq.null-audio.com in Chrome or Edge on a computer, then write the EQ to the DAC.

Can the USB-C DAC drive my earphones?

It is made for in-ear monitors. Its built-in Class G amplifier drives earphones from 16 Ω directly, with no output coupling capacitor. For full-size or hard-to-drive headphones, use the 3.5 mm or 4.4 mm plug with a dedicated amplifier.

Does it work with iPhone?

Yes. Plug the USB-C DAC into a USB-C iPhone and listen. iPhone browsers can’t connect to the DAC for tuning, so set your EQ once with the Android app or a computer and write it to the DAC; it then plays the same on iPhone.

Can I get a different length?

Yes. Contact us or WhatsApp +65-8731-5476 for custom builds.

Will the cable turn green or yellow over time?

It’s built not to. Every strand is individually enamelled and sealed under a PVC coating, which protects the copper and silver plating from oxidation and colour change, and the clear outer jacket is yellowing-resistant.

What is the return policy?

Standard builds can be returned within 14 days of confirmed delivery if unused and in their original packaging. Change-of-mind returns carry a 30% restocking fee, and shipping is not refunded.

Custom spec, length or connector builds cannot be returned for a change of mind once production starts. Faults are a different matter: every cable has a 1-year warranty, so contact support@null-audio.com and we will assess it.
