M20 - the end result after a year worth of product research, houses a large format and fast bass armature woofer driving a lot of air, implemented to pair with the AAW proprietary NOVA driver, quite alike traditional speakers with a super tweeter.
Now you can hear very deep and layered bass, charming and full-bodied vocal and even fine details in the ambiance thanks to the new tweeter innovation and synergy of the design.
The original M20 is one of AAW’s earliest launching models back in 2015. Based on the Sonion acuPass technology, M20 was a strong contender in the 2BA setup at the time. Fast-forward to 2023 and we decide to revive the name and implement a slew of change to modernize M20 with digitized acoustic design, 3D printing and NOVA driver technologies. In the end we are answering with the new design that houses not only specifications that goes up the roof, but concrete driver implementations allowing the design to scale up with sources and reflects the mastering’s quality, despite with only a simple 2 driver architecture.
In this hybrid structure, we choose to use a specially designed armature driver with an open front acoustic vent and embedded it deep into the M20's 3d printed nozzle. The proximity to the user eardrum eliminates sound pressure decay and any unwanted resonance in a typical tubed balanced armature design.
With a wholly digitized design process, M20 employs AAW 2nd generation digital enclosure and acoustic chamber design. Driver and nozzle placements are simulated hundreds of iterations to determine the ideal phasing and response. It is then 3D printed to precision to maintain consistency in mass production.
M20’s faceplate design employs a new technique called Electroless Immersion Gold, the unique process allows us to achieve complex designs over tiny acre of space.
