The name “Black Malus” is drawn from the mystique of the Malus tree, symbolizing growth, resilience, and transformation—values that have driven us for ten years. To honour this milestone, we elevated the design with an extraordinary opal gemstone faceplate, each piece shimmering with unique patterns of iridescent blues, greens, and fiery reds. This design not only celebrates the individuality of every listener but also reflects the multidimensional nature of sound itself.
Beneath its striking exterior lies a groundbreaking multi-BA driver architecture. The Black Malus features an array of precision-tuned balanced armature drivers, working in harmony to deliver unparalleled clarity, depth, and detail. A meticulously designed acoustic chamber and crossover network ensure seamless integration across all frequencies, creating a natural, expansive soundstage. From the deepest lows to the most delicate highs, every note is rendered with breathtaking accuracy.
The Black Malus employs an advanced 16-driver configuration, including an array of 4 AAW proprietary Vented Miniature Balanced Armature Power Woofers to cover the frequency range. This woofer array delivers substantial bass presence while maintaining a compact footprint. The design incorporates a specially engineered 4 super-high armature driver arrays housed in a 3D-printed manifold, positioned close to the user's eardrum to eliminate sound pressure decay and unwanted resonance typical in tubed designs.
Black Malus’ construction is a testament to the harmony of cutting-edge technology and artisanal craftsmanship, brought together in a sophisticated “sandwich” hybrid enclosure design.
At its foundation is a precision-engineered 3D-printed acoustic chamber, enabling complex internal geometries that optimize airflow and resonance control for uncompromising sound performance.
This is seamlessly integrated with a CNC-machined stainless steel mid-case, selected not only for its modern aesthetic but also for its structural rigidity—particularly around the reinforced 2-pin connector stock, ensuring long-term durability and a secure cable interface.
Capping this layered design is a handcrafted resin-based faceplate, each one individually poured and polished to reveal mesmerizing swirls and vibrant color gradients.
