Sony Walkman 4.4 mm balanced cables

Sony was one of the first to put a 4.4 mm balanced output on a player, with the NW-WM1A and NW-WM1Z in 2016, and its WM1, ZX and DMP-Z1 Walkmans all have one. Every cable below can be built with a 4.4 mm plug for them: choose the earphone connector for your IEMs, then 4.4 mm as the player plug. Common questions

Should I use the 4.4 mm or the 3.5 mm output on my Walkman?

Use 4.4 mm if your IEMs have a 4.4 mm cable. On the WM1, ZX and DMP-Z1 the balanced output keeps the left and right channels separate and gives more power.

Can I use the same cable with my phone?

Choose Ethos Ultra: it comes with a USB-C DAC plug as well as 4.4 mm and 3.5 mm, so one cable works with your Walkman and your phone. See IEMs with your phone.
