4.4 mm balanced IEM cables

Every cable below can be built with a 4.4 mm balanced plug, the socket on most current players and USB DACs, including FiiO, Sony, HiBy, Shanling and iBasso. Choose the earphone connector for your IEMs, then 4.4 mm as the player plug. Handmade to order in Singapore from USD 89 and shipped worldwide with FedEx (free from USD 250).

FiiO

FiiO players with a 4.4 mm output

These FiiO players, USB DACs and amps have a 4.4 mm balanced output, so a 4.4 mm cable plugs straight in. Most also have a 3.5 mm output; balanced is the one to use.

Questions

Common questions

What does a balanced cable change?

The left and right channels each get their own return wire instead of sharing one ground, and on most players the balanced output also gives more power. Whether you hear a difference depends on your player and IEMs.

Is 4.4 mm the same as Pentaconn?

Yes. 4.4 mm balanced plugs follow the 5-pole Pentaconn standard, so they fit any 4.4 mm balanced socket.

Can I use a 4.4 mm cable with my phone or a 3.5 mm output?

Use our 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter (USD 34.95), or choose Ethos Ultra, which comes with a USB-C DAC plug as well as 4.4 mm. Only plug a balanced cable into a 3.5 mm socket through an adapter made for it. See IEMs with your phone.

Which FiiO players need 2.5 mm instead?

The M9, X5 III, X7 Mark II and BTR5. See the note above.
