Check your earphone

  • Look at the socket: the two pins either sit inside a small recess or stand up from a flat surface. Standard 2-pin fits both.
  • Match the marked side of the plug to the marked side of the socket. 2-pin polarity matters.

Common questions

Will a 0.78 mm 2-pin cable fit a KZ?

No. KZ and CCA use 0.75 mm pins, which need their own plug. See the KZ guide.

Does it matter if my socket is recessed or flat?

Not for Standard 2-pin: it fits both.

Which way round does the plug go?

Match the marked side of the plug, usually a dot or the red side, to the marked side of the socket. Plugged in the wrong way round, the earphones play out of phase.

Can I use a 2-pin cable with my phone?

Choose a USB-C DAC plug, or Ethos Ultra, which comes with a USB-C DAC plug as well as 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm. See IEMs with your phone.
