The microphone quality seems to be totally fine, my mates didn't complain about quality issues there.
As mentioned in other reviews however, the cable is quite unbalanced, and with my Tripowin x HBB Meles, the cable pulls itself out of the IEM every once in a while. That is only an issue on the side with the microphone though, which is quite a heavy component to be hanging from one's ear. I never use neck sliders on earphone cables, but I definitely do with this one.
The issue is that your microphone input will be gone long before your audio output is, so there is often a timeframe where your still hear audio, but your mates won't hear you. Kind of frustrating, and I've already grown into the habit of checking the connection whenever I have the opportunity.
I've noticed that the 0.78mm on the original tripowin cable are longer than the pins on this cable, so maybe the pins should be elongated in newer revisions to provide a stronger connection.
I am however really glad that I don't have to wear my huge Sennheiser GSP500 around my neck, just for microphone input, so overall I'm quite happy with the purchase.
The build quality of the cable is fine, not as nice as some of the custom cables I have lying around, but I haven't noticed any cable microphonics and the cable isn't too stiff or holds its shape, so I don't really mind. Totally reasonable for plugging in and forgetting about in-game. Although I would have preferred a straight 3.5 TRRS plug.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the purchase, because wearing over ears for gaming has been heating up my ears uncomfortably, and I much prefer in ears for gaming anyways (so does my girlfriend, who won't have to hear my in-game audio through my open back headset anymore). However I wonder whether IEMs with recessed 0.78mm jacks are better suited than my flat tripowins, because it will give the plugs on the cable something to grip on when the mic becomes too heavy. Maybe some self- fusing silicone tape around the connector stems for better grip? Already playing with ideas in my head for whenever my Moondrop Katos arrive.
So this unfortunately isn't a perfect product, but tinkering with accessories is kind of fun in itself, and I have good hopes that one can get his setup working with this cable provided one is willing to put a little bit of work and thought into it.
So I recommend it, because there really is only one comparable cable to this on the market, and the idea is absolutely amazing. Maybe just needs a revision or two to be perfect (a lighter microphone that doesn't have a metal housing would go a loooong way!)
