Mokara 18 Driver Electrostatic Universal In-Ear Monitor

Mokara 18 Driver Electrostatic Universal In-Ear Monitor is a universal-fit in-ear monitor from AAW (Advanced AcousticWerkes), worn with standard ear tips. It has detachable 0.78 mm 2-pin sockets, so it takes our 2-pin upgrade cables.

The Mokara is AAW’s flagship universal IEM: 18 drivers per side, four of them electrostatic super tweeters, divided by a 7-way passive crossover. It is tuned for listeners who want deep, powerful sound with detailed imaging.

The name comes from the Mokara, a hybrid orchid. The faceplate sets real opal fragments and a hand-inlaid floral emblem in deep purple resin, so it catches red, gold and green as the light changes.

The Most Sophisticated Transducer Architecture

Beneath Mokara’s sculptural elegance lies a marvel of acoustic engineering: an 18-driver hybrid architecture combining balanced armature and electrostatic technologies. At its core is a meticulously arranged 7-way passive crossover, directing a symphony of specialized drivers—4 woofers, 2 bass, 2 mid-bass, 2 mid, 2 mid-high, and 2 high—each tuned for precise control across the entire frequency spectrum. Crowned by 4 electrostatic super tweeters, Mokara delivers an ultra-extended treble response with astonishing air and microdetail. This sophisticated configuration creates an effortlessly natural and immersive soundstage, where every layer, from thunderous lows to whisper-fine highs, is revealed in stunning fidelity.

“Sandwich” Hybrid Enclosure Design

Mokara’s construction is a testament to the harmony of cutting-edge technology and artisanal craftsmanship, brought together in a sophisticated “sandwich” hybrid enclosure design.

At its foundation is a precision-engineered 3D-printed acoustic chamber, enabling complex internal geometries that optimize airflow and resonance control for uncompromising sound performance. This is seamlessly integrated with a CNC-machined aluminum mid-case, selected not only for its modern aesthetic but also for its structural rigidity—particularly around the reinforced 2-pin connector stock, ensuring long-term durability and a secure cable interface. Capping this layered design is a handcrafted resin-based faceplate, each one individually poured and polished to reveal mesmerizing swirls and vibrant color gradients.

This multi-material approach results in a shell that is both acoustically superior and visually captivating, reflecting the same precision and beauty found in Mokara’s sound signature.

Hand-Poured Opal Faceplate

Each faceplate is poured, cured and polished by hand. The opal fragments settle differently in every pour, so no two faceplates are alike, and the surface shifts from violet to gold, orange and green with the viewing angle.
