The Null Audio Balanced Adapter comes in two types. 2.5 mm to 4.4 mm lets a 2.5 mm balanced IEM or headphone cable plug into a player, amp or dongle with a 4.4 mm output. 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm lets a 4.4 mm balanced cable plug into a standard 3.5 mm headphone output, such as a laptop, an older player or a 3.5 mm dongle.
Your cable's plug goes into the adapter's female socket, and the adapter's male plug goes into your player. For 2.5 mm to 4.4 mm, your 2.5 mm plug goes in and the adapter plugs into a 4.4 mm output. For 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm, your 4.4 mm plug goes in and the adapter plugs into a 3.5 mm output.
No. A balanced plug does not fit a 3.5 mm socket, and it should only be connected to a 3.5 mm output through an adapter made for it. Use the 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm type.
